Some of our Favorite Fall Books

These are some of our favorite fall books from when my children were younger. We used Five in a Row for the elementary years to enhance our homeschooling. Fall is such a wonderful time to make some special memories with your children. Be sure to take some time and cuddle with your little ones and enjoy a good book.

"How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World"by Marjorie Priceman

"Cranberry Thanksgiving" by Wende and Harry Devlin

"How Do Apples Grow?" by Betsy Maestro

"Why Do Leaves Change Colors?" by Betsy Maestro

"It's Fall" by Linda Glaser

"Johnny Appleseed" by Reeve Lindbergh

"The Little Scarecrow Boy" by Margaret Wise Brown

Presidential Election Unit Study

I'm reposting this in case someone is looking for a study on the Presidential Election. It's a 12 week unit, but I think you can do it a little faster if you wanted to.

Cindy Downes over at http://www.oklahomahomeschool.com/ has a free, 12 week unit study posted for the primary grades. Here's the link: http://www.oklahomahomeschool.com/PresElec.html . Permission is given to homeschooling parents to use these units free of charge in their own homeschool only. These units may not be reprinted in any other form, for any other purpose (commercial or otherwise) without permission from Cindy Downes. Contact her at cindy@oklahomahomeschool.com. Thanks, Cindy, for all your hard work on this!

Also, PBS has a good website with some great teaching helps about the election process. Here's the link for that: http://pbskids.org/zoom/fromyou/elections/elections101.html

For the One Who is Tired

"Dear heart, God does not say today, 'Be Strong!'
He knows your strength is spent,
He knows how long the road has been
How weary you have grown;
For He who walked the earthly roads alone,
Each bogging lowland and each long, steep hill,
Can understand, and so He says,
'Be still and know that I am God.'
The hour is late and you must rest awhile,
and you must wait
Until life's empty reservoirs fill up
As slow rain fills an empty, upturned cup,
Hold up your cup, dear child, for God to fill.
He only asks today that you be still."

Free eBooks to Download

Anyone want free eBooks? Check out this link: http://clarkhoward.com/topics/free_and_cheap.html . Scroll down to entertainment and you will find downloadable books. Some are books that you read on the computer, some you can put on yourMP3 or iPod. There are computer-read and also voice-read books. There are a bunch of classics and also things like the Constitution of theUnited States. I think there are also classes that you can download. Great ideas for when you are taking long road trips!
